Federal grant rules under proposed overhaul as San Francisco budget cuts hit Bay Area nonprofits

On May 29, the federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) published the largest proposed rewrite of Uniform Guidance since 2013, opening a public comment period that closes July 13. In the same week, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie released a proposed $16.9 billion city budget that would cut grant funding to nonprofit programs serving low-income San Franciscans, with provider associations projecting up to 1,050 layoffs across the sector.
